The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. (1) We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. (2) We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. (3) Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. (4) Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor (5) From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. (6) The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. (7) And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. (8) (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. (9) Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." (10) So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. (11) and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. (12) Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. (13) And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. (14) and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. (16) And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, (17) [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. (18) ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. (19) If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. (20) Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. (21) This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. (22)
