The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. (1) We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; (2) Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. (3) Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. (4) The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. (5) a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; (6) (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, (7) They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, (8) saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. (9) "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." (10) So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. (11) And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; (12) They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. (13) And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. (14) Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them (15) crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. (16) And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, (17) [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". (18) ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. (19) And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. (20) Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
