The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? (1) Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. (2) We have indeed shown him the way whether he is grateful or ingrate. (3) [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but (4) the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, (5) a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. (6) They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; (7) And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. (8) They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” (9) "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." (10) God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. (11) And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. (12) Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. (13) Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, (14) Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them (15) crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. (16) And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger (17) therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. (19) And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. (20) Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. (21) Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' (22)
