The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. (1) Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. (2) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3) Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. (4) Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, (5) The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. (6) They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; (7) those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, (8) (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, (9) "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." (10) So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, (11) And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. (12) Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. (13) near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, (14) Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). (16) And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, (17) From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. (19) And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. (20) On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. (21) 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' (22)
