31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? (1) Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. (2) Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. (3) We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). (4) Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor (5) A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. (6) The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. (7) And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- (8) 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; (9) Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. (10) So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness (11) and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. (12) In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, (13) And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. (14) Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, (15) Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. (16) There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger (17) Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. (19) And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. (20) In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. (21) It will be said to them, “This is your reward indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” (22)
