The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? (1) Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. (2) Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. (3) Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. (4) The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor (5) From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. (6) They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. (7) they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: (8) [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: (9) for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. (10) Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, (11) And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. (12) There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. (13) And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. (14) They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. (15) Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. (16) And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, (17) therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. (18) ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. (19) when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. (20) Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. (21) This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. (22)
