The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. (1) Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. (2) Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. (3) We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). (4) Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, (5) which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. (6) they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; (7) And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, (8) (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, (9) “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” (10) So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness (11) And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. (12) Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. (13) And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. (14) And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. (15) Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. (16) They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water (17) (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. (19) And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. (20) In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. (21) (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. (22)
