The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? (1) We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. (2) Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. (3) Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. (4) As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- (5) From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. (6) They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; (7) And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, (8) We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: (9) Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. (10) So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. (11) and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. (12) Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. (13) The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. (14) And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, (15) And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. (16) And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- (17) [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. (18) ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. (19) and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent (20) Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. (21) Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. (22)
