The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. (1) Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. (2) We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. (3) We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. (4) the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, (5) This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. (6) (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, (7) And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. (8) (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, (9) Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. (10) So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. (11) For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. (12) Reclining therein upon couches, they will find there neither (heat of) a sun nor bitter cold. (13) The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. (14) Passed round will be silver flagons and goblets made of glass, (15) Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. (16) There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger (17) [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. (18) ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, (19) wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: (20) Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. (21) It will be said to them, “This is your reward indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” (22)
