The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? (1) Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. (2) We have indeed shown him the way whether he is grateful or ingrate. (3) We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). (4) Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, (5) From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. (6) They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; (7) They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, (8) (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, (9) for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' (10) So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, (11) And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; (12) There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. (13) And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. (14) and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, (15) Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. (16) And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), (17) [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. (18) ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. (19) wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: (20) Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. (21) Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. (22)
