The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. (1) Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. (2) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3) Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. (4) Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. (5) A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. (6) They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. (7) and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, (8) (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, (9) Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." (10) So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, (11) And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. (12) therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; (13) And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. (14) And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, (15) goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. (16) There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger (17) A fountain there, called Salsabil. (18) ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. (19) And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. (20) In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. (21) Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' (22)
