The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. (1) We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. (2) Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. (3) We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. (4) The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor (5) The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. (6) They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. (7) And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (8) [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. (9) for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' (10) And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, (11) and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. (12) therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; (13) the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. (14) and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, (15) Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. (16) Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, (17) from a fountain called Salsabila. (18) ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; (19) Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. (20) Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. (21) This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. (22)
