The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? (1) Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. (2) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3) Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. (4) The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor (5) A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. (6) They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; (7) And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. (8) 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; (9) "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." (10) So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, (11) and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; (12) Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. (13) And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. (14) and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, (15) goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. (16) And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, (17) [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". (18) ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. (19) when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. (20) Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. (21) "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." (22)
