The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? (1) Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. (2) Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. (3) We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. (4) Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. (5) The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. (6) They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. (7) And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: (8) (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, (9) "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." (10) So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, (11) And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. (12) Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. (13) And the shades of the (Garden) will come low over them, and the bunches (of fruit), there, will hang low in humility. (14) Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). (16) They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water (17) drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. (19) And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. (20) Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. (21) 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' (22)
