The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. (1) Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. (2) Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. (3) For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. (4) Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor (5) The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. (6) They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. (7) And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: (8) [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. (9) We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". (10) But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. (11) And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, (12) There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. (13) near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, (14) Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass (15) crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. (16) There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger (17) therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; (19) And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. (20) Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. (21) "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." (22)
