The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? (1) We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. (2) We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. (3) Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. (4) Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. (5) From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. (6) They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. (7) and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, (8) (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; (9) Surely we fear from our Lord a stern, distressful day. (10) So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, (11) and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. (12) Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, (13) The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. (14) And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. (15) crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. (16) And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, (17) (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. (19) And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. (20) Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. (21) [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" (22)
