The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? (1) Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. (2) Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). (3) We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. (4) The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. (5) A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, (6) They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. (7) And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, (8) [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. (9) Verily we dread from our Lord a Day grim and distressful. (10) Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. (11) For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. (12) There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. (13) And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. (14) Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them (15) (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). (16) And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, (17) (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. (19) When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. (20) Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. (21) 'See, this is your recompense, your striving is thanked' (22)
