The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? (1) Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. (2) We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. (4) Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms (5) a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. (6) These will be the ones who fulfil their vows and dread the Day whose woe shall be spread far and wide; (7) those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, (8) We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: (9) We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". (10) Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, (11) and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; (12) There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. (13) The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; (14) And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal (15) Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. (16) And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- (17) [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". (18) ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- (19) Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. (20) Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
