The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. 3 Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. 12 therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; 13 And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. 16 There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger 17 [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
