The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? (1) We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; (2) We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. (3) For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. (4) Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. (5) The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. (6) They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; (7) And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (8) Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. (9) Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. (10) Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, (11) And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. (12) Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. (13) And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. (14) and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, (15) goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. (16) And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, (17) therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. (18) ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- (19) And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. (20) Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. (21) "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." (22)
