The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. (1) Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. (2) We have indeed shown him the way whether he is grateful or ingrate. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. (4) As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- (5) From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. (6) They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. (7) And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, (8) Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. (9) Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." (10) So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, (11) and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. (12) Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). (13) since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. (14) Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. (15) Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. (16) And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- (17) A fountain there, called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. (19) When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. (20) On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. (21) "This in truth is your recompense, and acceptance of your endeavours." (22)
