The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. (1) Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. (2) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3) [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but (4) Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor (5) This will be a gushing spring wherefrom Allah's servants shall drink wine, a spring from which they will take out channels wherever they wish. (6) The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. (7) And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, (8) Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. (9) “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” (10) So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, (11) and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. (12) Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. (13) The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. (14) Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass (15) (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. (16) They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water (17) From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. (19) and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent (20) Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. (21) Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. (22)
