The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there not been over man a period of time, when he was nothing to be mentioned? (1) Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. (2) We have indeed shown him the way whether he is grateful or ingrate. (3) Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. (4) Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor (5) which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. (6) (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, (7) those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, (8) [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: (9) We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". (10) So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness (11) For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. (12) Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, (13) And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. (14) Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. (16) And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, (17) drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. (18) ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. (19) And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. (20) Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
