The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? (1) Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. (2) Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. (3) [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but (4) But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; (5) A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. (6) They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; (7) who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (8) [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. (9) We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". (10) So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, (11) And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, (12) They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. (13) the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. (14) And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, (15) (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). (16) And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, (17) from a flowing spring called Salsabil. (18) ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- (19) and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent (20) Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. (21) Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. (22)
