The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. (1) Indeed, We created man from a sperm-drop mixture that We may try him; and We made him hearing and seeing. (2) We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. (3) [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth We have readied chains and shackles, and a blazing flame (4) the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, (5) The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. (6) They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; (7) And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (8) [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: (9) for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' (10) And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, (11) For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. (12) Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, (13) Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, (14) And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], (15) Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. (16) And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- (17) From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. (19) And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. (20) In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. (21) (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. (22)
