The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? (1) Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. (2) We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. (3) We have prepared for unbelievers chains and collars and a blazing fire. (4) Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, (5) a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; (6) [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, (7) And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, (8) "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. (9) for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. (10) So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, (11) and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. (12) Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. (13) The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; (14) Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. (15) Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. (16) And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, (17) therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; (19) when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. (20) Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. (21) It will be said to them, “This is your reward indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” (22)
