The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? (1) Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. (2) Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. (4) Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. (5) a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. (6) [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, (7) who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (8) "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. (9) Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." (10) And so, God will preserve them from the woes of that Day, and will bestow on them brightness and joy, (11) And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, (12) They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. (13) And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. (14) Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass (15) Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. (16) There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, (17) A fountain there, called Salsabil. (18) ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- (19) If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. (20) Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
