The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? (1) Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. (2) We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). (3) Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. (4) Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms (5) A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. (6) They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. (7) those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, (8) (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, (9) behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" (10) Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, (11) And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. (12) therein they shall recline upon couches, therein they shall see neither sun nor bitter cold; (13) since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. (14) And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). (16) And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger (17) [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. (19) and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent (20) Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. (21) (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. (22)
