The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? (1) Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. (2) Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. (3) We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). (4) As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- (5) a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. (6) They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; (7) those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, (8) (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. (9) behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" (10) So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness (11) And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. (12) [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. (13) near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, (14) and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. (16) And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. (17) from a flowing spring called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. (19) And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. (20) Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. (21) [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" (22)
