The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? (1) Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. (2) We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). (3) Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). (4) Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. (5) A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, (6) They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. (7) And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (8) Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. (9) we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” (10) Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; (11) And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, (12) Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). (13) And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. (14) And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. (15) Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. (16) And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- (17) therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. (19) And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. (20) Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. (21) [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." (22)
