The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned? (1) Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. (2) Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. (3) We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). (4) [whereas,] behold, the truly virtuous shall drink from a cup flavoured with the calyx of sweet-smelling flowers: (5) a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. (6) they who keep their vows and fear a Day whose evil is spread; (7) And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, (8) saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. (9) Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." (10) So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, (11) and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; (12) [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. (13) The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. (14) and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, (15) Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. (16) And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- (17) therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. (19) and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent (20) Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
