The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? (1) Verily, We have created man from Nutfah drops of mixed semen (discharge of man and woman), in order to try him, so We made him hearer, seer. (2) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3) Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. (4) The virtuous shall drink from a cup tempered with camphor water. (5) From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. (6) They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; (7) they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, (8) They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” (9) "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." (10) So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. (11) And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, (12) Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). (13) the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. (14) and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, (15) Also there will be crystal clear goblets of silver containing the exact measure of drink which they desire. (16) There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, (17) (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. (19) And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. (20) They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. (21) (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. (22)
