The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Was there a period of time when man was not even worthy of a mention? (1) Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. (2) Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. (4) Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, (5) From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. (6) They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; (7) And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: (8) (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, (9) “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” (10) But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. (11) And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. (12) Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, (13) And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. (14) They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. (15) goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. (16) Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, (17) from a spring named salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. (19) And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. (20) they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
