The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? (1) Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. (2) We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. (3) Indeed, We have prepared for the disbelievers chains and shackles and a blaze. (4) Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. (5) a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. (6) They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; (7) And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. (8) 'We feed you only for the Face of God; we desire no recompense from you, no thankfulness; (9) for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. (10) But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. (11) and recompensed them for their patience with a Garden, and silk; (12) They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. (13) And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. (14) Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass (15) (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). (16) And in that [paradise] they will be given to drink of a cup flavoured with ginger, (17) From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. (19) When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. (20) On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. (21) [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" (22)
