The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. (1) We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. (2) We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). (3) [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth We have readied chains and shackles, and a blazing flame (4) Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, (5) A spring of which the [righteous] servants of Allah will drink; they will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. (6) Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, (7) who give food, for the love of Him to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (8) (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. (9) Lo! we fear from our Lord a day of frowning and of fate. (10) God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. (11) And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, (12) In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, (13) And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. (14) Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. (16) And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, (17) (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. (19) When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. (20) In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. (21) [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" (22)
