The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. (1) Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. (2) Surely We showed him the Right Path, regardless of whether he chooses to be thankful or unthankful (to his Lord). (3) Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). (4) Indeed the virtuous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kafoor. (5) A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. (6) They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. (7) They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, (8) Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. (9) behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" (10) So God has guarded them from the evil of that day, and has procured them radiancy and gladness, (11) And will reward them for what they patiently endured [with] a garden [in Paradise] and silk [garments]. (12) Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). (13) the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. (14) and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, (15) Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. (16) And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), (17) [From] a fountain within Paradise named Salsabeel. (18) ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. (19) And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. (20) Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. (21) [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" (22)
