The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. (1) Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. (2) Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. (4) the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, (5) From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. (6) (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, (7) they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, (8) (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. (9) behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" (10) So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness (11) And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. (12) Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. (13) The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. (14) Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. (15) (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. (16) and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, (17) therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. (18) ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- (19) When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. (20) On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. (21) It will be said to them, “This is your reward indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” (22)
