The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? (1) We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. (2) We have indeed shown him the way whether he is grateful or ingrate. (3) Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. (4) the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, (5) A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. (6) They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. (7) And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. (8) "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. (9) We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". (10) Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; (11) And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, (12) [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. (13) Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, (14) Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them (15) crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. (16) And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), (17) A spring there, called Salsabil. (18) ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. (19) When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. (20) Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
