The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. (1) Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. (2) We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. (4) But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; (5) a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; (6) They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; (7) they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: (8) "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. (9) for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. (10) So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, (11) and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. (12) Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, (13) since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. (14) And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- (15) crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. (16) And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger (17) (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. (19) Whitherto you look around, you will see an abundance of bliss and the glories of a great kingdom. (20) Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. (21) Behold, this is a recompense for you, and your striving is thanked.' (22)
