The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. (1) We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. (2) We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. (4) Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor (5) From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. (6) They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. (7) they give food, for the love of Him, to the needy, the orphan, the captive: (8) (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, (9) Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." (10) God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. (11) And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, (12) Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. (13) And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. (14) Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. (15) crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. (16) And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- (17) [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". (18) ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. (19) and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent (20) Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. (21) Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. (22)
