The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. (1) Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. (2) Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. (3) For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. (4) Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor (5) The Kafoor is a spring, from which the chosen bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish inside their palaces. (6) They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. (7) They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, (8) saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. (9) "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." (10) Therefor Allah hath warded off from them the evil of that day, and hath made them find brightness and joy; (11) and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. (12) Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. (13) the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. (14) Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). (16) And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), (17) (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; (19) And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. (20) Their raiment will be fine green silk and gold embroidery. Bracelets of silver will they wear. Their Lord will slake their thirst with a pure drink. (21) (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." (22)
