The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? (1) We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; (2) Verily, We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. (3) For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. (4) the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, (5) a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. (6) [The truly virtuous are] they [who] fulfil their vows, and stand in awe of a Day the woe of which is bound to spread far and wide, (7) And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. (8) (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. (9) Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." (10) So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, (11) And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. (12) Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. (13) Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, (14) Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass (15) crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. (16) And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- (17) therein a fountain whose name is called Salsabil. (18) ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- (19) and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent (20) Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. (21) This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. (22)
