The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? (1) We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; (2) Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. (3) [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth We have readied chains and shackles, and a blazing flame (4) Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. (5) a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. (6) They fulfill vows and fear a day the evil of which shall be spreading far and wide. (7) And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: (8) "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. (9) "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." (10) God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. (11) and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. (12) In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, (13) And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. (14) and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). (16) There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger (17) from a fountain called Salsabila. (18) ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, (19) And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. (20) In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. (21) Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. (22)
