The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Surely there hath come upon man a space of time when he was not a thing worth mentioning. (1) Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. (2) Verily, We have shown him the way: [and it rests with him to prove himself] either grateful or ungrateful. (3) Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). (4) As to the Righteous, they shall drink of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Kafur,- (5) a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. (6) (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, (7) And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- (8) "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. (9) for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' (10) So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, (11) And because they were patient and constant, He will reward them with a Garden and (garments of) silk. (12) There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. (13) Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, (14) They will be served with silver dishes and crystal clear goblets. (15) (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. (16) And they shall be made to drink therein a cup the admixture of which shall be ginger, (17) from a flowing spring called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; (19) When thou seest, thou wilt see there bliss and high estate. (20) Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. (21) This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. (22)
