The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? (1) Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. (2) We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. (4) But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; (5) a fountain at which the worshipers of Allah drink and make it gush forth abundantly; (6) They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. (7) They feed the destitute, orphans, and captives for the love of God, saying, (8) (saying): “We feed you only for Allah's sake; we do not seek of you any recompense or thanks, (9) for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. (10) So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, (11) And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; (12) They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. (13) near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, (14) And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, (15) goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. (16) and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, (17) (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. (19) and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent (20) In it they adorn clothes of fine green silk and gold embroidery; and they are given silver bracelets to wear; and their Lord gave them pure wine to drink. (21) [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" (22)
