The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? (1) Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. (2) Verily We! We shewed him the way; then he becometh either thankful or ingrate. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. (4) But the righteous shall drink of a goblet mixed with camphor; (5) From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. (6) They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. (7) and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, (8) (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, (9) "We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath from the side of our Lord." (10) So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, (11) and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. (12) There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. (13) And near above them are its shades, and its [fruit] to be picked will be lowered in compliance. (14) and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, (15) And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. (16) And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. (17) from a spring named salsabil. (18) ۞ And round about them shall go youths never altering in age; when you see them you will think them to be scattered pearls. (19) And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. (20) Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and of brocades. And adorned they shall be with bracelets of silver: and their Lord shall give them drink a beverage pure. (21) Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. (22)
