The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? (1) Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. (2) Surely We guided him upon the way whether he be thankful or unthankful. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. (4) Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, (5) A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah will drink, causing it to gush forth abundantly. (6) They (are those who) fulfill (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil will be wide-spreading. (7) And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. (8) [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. (9) "Verily, We fear from our Lord a Day, hard and distressful, that will make the faces look horrible (from extreme dislikeness to it)." (10) So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness (11) And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. (12) Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. (13) since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. (14) And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, (15) goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. (16) There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil, (17) Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. (18) ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. (19) And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. (20) On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. (21) [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." (22)
