The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? (1) We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. (2) We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. (3) Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. (4) Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, (5) From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. (6) They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. (7) And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (8) We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: (9) We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". (10) So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, (11) And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, (12) [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. (13) since its [blissful] shades will come down low over them, and low will hang down its clusters of fruit, most easy to reach. (14) Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass (15) (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). (16) They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water (17) from a flowing spring called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; (19) when thou seest them then thou seest bliss and a great kingdom. (20) They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. (21) This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. (22)
