The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? (1) Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. (2) Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. (3) Verily, We have prepared for the disbelievers iron chains, iron collars, and a blazing Fire. (4) Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms (5) A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. (6) They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. (7) and who give food - however great be their own want of it - unto the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, (8) (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. (9) Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." (10) Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, (11) and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. (12) Where they will recline on couches feeling neither heat of the sun nor intense cold. (13) The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. (14) Goblets of silver are brought round for them, and beakers (as) of glass (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. (16) And therein they shall be given to drink a cup whose mixture is ginger, (17) from a fountain called Salsabila. (18) ۞ Immortal youths will go about them, when you see them, you would suppose them to be scattered pearls. (19) And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. (20) Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. (21) Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. (22)
