The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. (1) Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. (2) Surely We have shown him the way: he may be thankful or unthankful. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. (4) Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms (5) From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. (6) They fulfil their vows, and fear a day whose evil is upon the wing; (7) And feed with food the needy wretch, the orphan and the prisoner, for love of Him, (8) (Saying): "We feed you seeking Allah's Countenance only. We wish for no reward, nor thanks from you. (9) behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" (10) So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. (11) And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. (12) Reclining therein on raised couches, they shall find therein neither (the severe heat of) the sun nor intense cold. (13) And its shade will cover them, and its fruit clusters brought down low for them. (14) Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them (15) goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. (16) Therein they shall be served a cup flavoured with ginger, (17) [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". (18) ۞ And immortal youths will wait upon them: when thou seest them, thou wouldst deem them to be scattered pearls; (19) and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent (20) Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. (21) This will be their reward and their efforts will be appreciated. (22)
