The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. (1) We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. (2) We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. (3) We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. (4) Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms (5) A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. (6) They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. (7) And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: (8) saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. (9) We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". (10) So Allah saved them from the evil of that Day, and gave them Nadratan (a light of beauty) and joy. (11) For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. (12) Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, (13) near them shall be its shades, and its clusters hung meekly down, (14) And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and cups of crystal, (15) and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, (16) And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- (17) From a spring by the name of Ever-flowing-Salsabil. (18) ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. (19) and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent (20) Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. (21) (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. (22)
