The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WAS THERE NOT a time in the life of man when he was not even a mentionable thing? (1) Lo! We create man from a drop of thickened fluid to test him; so We make him hearing, knowing. (2) We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. (3) For the unbelievers, We have kept ready chains and fetters and a Blazing Fire. (4) Verily, the Abrar (pious, who fear Allah and avoid evil), shall drink a cup (of wine) mixed with water from a spring in Paradise called Kafur. (5) A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. (6) They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; (7) And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, (8) (Saying): We feed you, for the sake of Allah only. We wish for no reward nor thanks from you; (9) Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." (10) Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; (11) And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; (12) They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. (13) The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; (14) and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, (15) Clear glasses [made] from silver of which they have determined the measure. (16) There will they drink a cup flavoured with ginger (17) (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. (18) ۞ There will circulate among them young boys made eternal. When you see them, you would think them [as beautiful as] scattered pearls. (19) When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. (20) They will have fine green silk and brocade, and they will be decked with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will provide them with a drink of pure wine. (21) It will be said to them, “This is your reward indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” (22)
