The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS THERE [not] been an endless span of time before man [appeared - a time] when he was not yet a thing to be thought of? (1) We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. (2) Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. (3) For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. (4) Surely the pious shall drink of a cup whose mixture is camphor, (5) A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. (6) Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, (7) And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, (8) [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: (9) Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." (10) God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. (11) and will reward them for all their patience in adversity with a garden [of bliss] and with [garments of] silk. (12) Reclining in the (Garden) on raised thrones, they will see there neither the sun's (excessive heat) nor (the moon's) excessive cold. (13) Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, (14) And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. (16) They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water (17) (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. (18) ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. (19) and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent (20) Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. (21) Surely this is a reward for you, and your striving shall be recompensed. (22)
