The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has there [not] come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? (1) Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. (2) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3) For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. (4) Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, (5) A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, (6) They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. (7) And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, (8) [Saying], "We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude. (9) We fear the dismal day calamitous from our Lord." (10) So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, (11) For their patience, He will reward them with Paradise and silk. (12) [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. (13) Near them shall be its shades with its clusters hung gently down, (14) and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver, and goblets of crystal, (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver: they will determine the measure thereof (according to their wishes). (16) and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, (17) from a flowing spring called Salsabil. (18) ۞ There boys of everlasting youth shall go about attending them: when you see them, you would think that they are scattered pearls. (19) And when you look towards it, you will see serenity and a great kingdom. (20) Their garments will be of fine green silk, and gold embroidery. They will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a pure drink. (21) [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." (22)
