The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? (1) Indeed We have created man from mixed semen; in order to test him We therefore made him hearing, knowing. (2) Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. (3) Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains, fetters, and a Blaze. (4) Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur, (5) a source [of bliss] whereof God's servants shall drink, seeing it flow in a flow abundant. (6) Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, (7) And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. (8) "We only feed you for the sake of God and we do not want any reward or thanks from you. (9) Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." (10) Therefore Allah will guard them from the evil of that day and cause them to meet with ease and happiness; (11) And their recompense shall be Paradise, and silken garments, because they were patient. (12) [They will be] reclining therein on adorned couches. They will not see therein any [burning] sun or [freezing] cold. (13) The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; (14) And amongst them will be passed round vessels of silver and goblets of crystal,- (15) Crystal-clear, made of silver. They will determine the measure thereof according to their wishes. (16) And in Paradise they will be given to drink cups, filled with a mixture of ginger. (17) A spring there, called Salsabil. (18) ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. (19) And when thou lookest them thou shalt behold delight and a dominion magnificent. (20) Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. (21) [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" (22)
