The Human (Al-Insan)
31 verses, revealed in Medina after The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman) before Divorce (Al-Talaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. (1) We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. (2) Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. (3) For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. (4) The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor (5) a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. (6) They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. (7) And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, (8) saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. (9) “Indeed we fear from our Lord a day which is extremely bitter, most severe.” (10) So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness (11) and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. (12) There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. (13) And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. (14) And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], (15) crystal-like, [but] of silver - the measure whereof they alone will determine. (16) And they shall be given to drink from a cup whose mixture is ginger, (17) Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. (18) ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. (19) and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent (20) They [i.e., the virtuous] shall be attired in garments of fine green silk and rich brocade and will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure wine to drink. (21) [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." (22)
