Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! (1) And I call the reprehensive soul to witness: (2) Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? (3) Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips. (4) Nay, but man desires to continue on as a libertine, (5) asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' (6) but when the sight is dazed (7) and the moon is darkened, (8) And the sun and moon are joined together,- (9) Man shall say on that day: Whither to fly to? (10) Alas! No refuge! (11) To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. (12) To man will be declared on that Day that which he hath sent on and left behind. (13) But lo, man is well aware of himself, (14) even though he may veil himself in excuses. (15) Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. (16) Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. (17) When We have recited it, follow its words attentively; (18) Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. (19) Yet you love this hasty world (20) And leave alone the Hereafter. (21) On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. (22) Looking towards their Lord; (23) And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, (24) Thinking that some calamity was about to fall on them; (25) But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, (26) And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death?" (27) the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, (28) and calf is inter-twined with calf. (29) upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. (30)
