Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; (1) No! I swear by the reproachful soul. (2) Does man think that We will not assemble his bones? (3) Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. (4) But man would fain deny what is before him. (5) asking [derisively,] "When is that Resurrection Day to be?" (6) So when the sight becomes dazed, (7) And the moon darkens (8) And the sun and moon will be joined together (by going one into the other or folded up or deprived of their light, etc.) (9) On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. (10) By no means! there shall be no place of refuge! (11) With thy Sustainer, on that Day, the journey's end will be! (12) On that Day will man be apprised of his deeds, both the earlier and the later. (13) Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, (14) Though he may put forth his excuses (to cover his evil deeds). (15) Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an. (16) It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Quran), (17) So, as We recite it, follow its reading. (18) Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. (19) None except you, O disbelievers you love what you have, the fleeting one. (20) and are oblivious of the Hereafter. (21) Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, (22) and will be looking towards their Lord; (23) And countenances on that Day shall be scowling. (24) Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. (25) But when [man's soul] reaches the throat, (26) and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, (27) and when he thinks it is the time of departure (28) and when leg is intertwined with leg, (29) On that day, the herding will be only towards your Lord. (30)
