The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, (1) stand up, deliver your warning, (2) And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. (3) Purify your inner self, (4) And all defilement shun! (5) Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! (6) but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. (7) And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, (8) that day will be a harsh day, (9) For the unbelievers, anything but easy. (10) LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, (11) and designated for him ample wealth, (12) And sons abiding in his presence (13) And made life smooth and comfortable for him! (14) then he is eager that I should do more. (15) By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: (16) I will constrain him to a hard ascent. (17) Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. (18) May he be condemned! (19) And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! (20) He then dared to lift his gaze. (21) Then frowned and grimaced. (22) then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, (23) And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” (24) “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” (25) Him shall I fling unto the burning. (26) And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? (27) It neither leaves, nor spares. (28) and it burns the flesh. (29) Above it are nineteen. (30) And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. (31)
