56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O the Cloaked One! (Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) (1) Arise and deliver thy warning! (2) and magnify the glory of your Lord, (3) And thine inner self purify! (4) And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! (5) Give not, thinking to gain greater (6) But for your Lord be patient. (7) Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, (8) That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, (9) not an easy day for the unbelievers. (10) Leave Me and him whom I created alone, (11) And give him vast riches, (12) And sons dwelling in his presence, (13) And made (life) smooth for him. (14) yet he is eager that I increase him. (15) No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. (16) Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. (17) For he had thought and calculated. (18) Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? (19) Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; (20) Then looked he, (21) Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; (22) Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. (23) Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; (24) "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" (25) Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! (26) and what will teach thee what is Sakar? (27) It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; (28) making [all truth] visible to mortal man. (29) Above it are nineteen. (30) And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. (31)
