The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O thou enveloped! (1) Arise and warn, (2) Glorify your Lord, (3) and purify your clothing, (4) And pollution shun. (5) And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). (6) and be patient unto thy Lord. (7) When the Horn is blown, (8) that shall be a Harsh Day (9) Far from easy for those without Faith. (10) Leave Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, (11) and to whom I have granted resources vast, (12) and sons ever present with him, (13) and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), (14) and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! (15) By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. (16) I will cover him with arduous torment. (17) He reflected, and then determined (18) May he be accursed, how he planned! (19) Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? (20) Then he looked, (21) then he frowned and scowled, (22) then he retreated, and waxed proud. (23) And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, (24) Nothing more than the speech of a man!" (25) I will cast him into Hell-fire (26) And what can make you know what is Saqar? (27) It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. (28) and it burns the flesh. (29) Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). (30) And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. (31)
