56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, (1) arise and give warning! (2) Thy Lord magnify (3) And your garments do purify, (4) Pollution shun! (5) And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! (6) And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. (7) When the Trumpet is sounded, (8) that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. (9) For the disbelievers - not easy. (10) Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, (11) To whom I granted resources in abundance, (12) And sons dwelling in his presence, (13) and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: (14) and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! (15) By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. (16) We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. (17) Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] (18) So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! (19) Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! (20) Then he looked round; (21) Then he frowned and scowled; (22) then he retreated, and waxed proud. (23) and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; (24) "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" (25) I will drive him into Saqar. (26) And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? (27) It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! (28) It scorches the mortal. (29) Above it are nineteen. (30) We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. (31)
