In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 That, at that time, shall be a difficult day, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was big with pride, 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
