The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], (1) Arise and warn! (2) Glorify your Lord, (3) cleanse your clothes, (4) and flee from the statues! (5) And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). (6) And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. (7) For when the Trump is sounded (8) that day will be a harsh day, (9) Far from easy for those without Faith. (10) Leave Me with the one I created alone (11) and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, (12) And sons present by his side. (13) and made all things smooth for him; (14) Yet he desires that I should give more. (15) By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. (16) Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! (17) Indeed, he thought and deliberated. (18) So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. (19) Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - (20) He looked (at others); (21) And frowned and puckered his brow, (22) Then he turned back and was arrogant (23) And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” (24) This is naught else than speech of mortal man. (25) I will cast him into the fire of Hell. (26) What do you think Hell-fire is? (27) Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- (28) making [all truth] visible to mortal man. (29) Over it are nineteen (guards). (30) And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. (31)
