56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 arise, and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 thy robes purify 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then he looked around, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire. We have specified their number only as a trial for those who are bent on denying the truth, so that those who were given the Book might gain in certainty, and those who believe might increase in faith -- and so that neither those who have been given the Scripture nor the believers might have any doubts, and that those sick at heart and those who deny the truth might ask, "What does God mean by this parable?" In this way, God lets go astray whom He wills, and guides whom He wills. And none knows the forces of your Lord but He. This is but a Reminder for man. 31
