The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, (1) Arise and warn, (2) Proclaim the glory of your Lord; (3) And thy garments keep free from stain! (4) and defilement flee! (5) And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, (6) be patient unto your Lord. (7) When the Horn is blown, (8) That Day will be a difficult day (9) For the disbelievers - not easy. (10) Leave Me with the one I created alone (11) and to whom I have granted resources vast, (12) And children to be by his side! (13) whose life I have made run smoothly (14) After all that he desires that I should give more; (15) By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! (16) I will constrain him to a hard ascent. (17) For he thought and he plotted;- (18) Perish he! How maliciously he devised! (19) And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! (20) Then he looked round; (21) and then he frowns and glares, (22) Then he turned back and was arrogant (23) and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. (24) Naught is this but the word of Man. (25) I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. (26) And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? (27) It shall not spare, nor leave. (28) and it burns the flesh. (29) and it has nineteen angelic keepers. (30) And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. (31)
