The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, (1) Arise and deliver thy warning! (2) And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. (3) And your clothing purify (4) Pollution shun! (5) do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; (6) Exercise patience to please your Lord. (7) And when the trumpet is blown, (8) That shall be - that Day - a day hard. (9) and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. (10) Leave Me and him whom I created alone, (11) And gave him vast wealth. (12) And sons dwelling in his presence, (13) And made several preparations for him. (14) and who still desires more. (15) Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. (16) I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! (17) Verily, he thought and plotted; (18) And woe to him! How he plotted!- (19) Again (self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! - (20) Then he looked, (21) Then he frowned and he scowled; (22) Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. (23) and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! (24) This is not but the word of a human being." (25) I will cast him into hell. (26) And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? (27) It leaves and spares no one and nothing. (28) Darkening and changing the colour of man! (29) over it are nineteen. (30) We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. (31)
