The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, (1) arise and warn, (2) And your Lord do magnify, (3) And thine inner self purify! (4) And all abomination shun! (5) Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, (6) And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. (7) Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded, (8) that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. (9) For the unbelievers, anything but easy. (10) Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, (11) And then granted him resources in abundance. (12) And sons to be by his side!- (13) and made all things smooth for him; (14) and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! (15) Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. (16) Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. (17) Verily, he thought and plotted; (18) and woe to him; how he plotted! (19) Again accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! (20) Then he thought; (21) Then frowned and grimaced. (22) and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly (23) And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, (24) This is not but the word of a human being." (25) I will cast him into the fire of Hell. (26) And what will make you realize what hell is? (27) It spares not, neither leaves alone (28) Blackening the skins. (29) over it are nineteen. (30) And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. (31)
