56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O thou shrouded in thy mantle, (1) arise and give warning! (2) Glorify your Lord, (3) cleanse your clothes, (4) And pollution shun. (5) Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! (6) And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. (7) When the trumpet is sounded,. (8) it will be a hard day (9) not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! (10) Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. (11) And gave him abundant wealth (12) And sons always present by his side, (13) And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; (14) and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. (15) By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. (16) and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. (17) Verily he considered, and devised. (18) death seized him, how was his determining! (19) What an evil plan he has made! (20) He looked (at others); (21) frowned and scowled, (22) then he retreated and grew proud (23) Then he said: naught is this but magic from of old; (24) These are only words from a mere mortal". (25) I will cast him into Hell-fire (26) And what knoweth thou that which the Scorching Fire? (27) It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; (28) scorching the flesh; (29) Over it are nineteen keepers. (30) And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. (31)
