The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! (1) Arise and warn! (2) and magnify the glory of your Lord, (3) and purify your robes, (4) And all abomination shun! (5) do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; (6) be patient unto your Lord. (7) When the Trumpet shall be sounded, (8) Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. (9) and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. (10) Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. (11) And gave him abundant wealth (12) And sons to be by his side!- (13) and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), (14) Yet he desires that I should give more. (15) Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself (16) I shall inflict on him hardship, (17) Verily, he thought and plotted; (18) And woe to him! How he plotted!- (19) Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- (20) Then he looked around, (21) Then frowned and grimaced. (22) and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, (23) said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. (24) This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" (25) I will surely roast him in the Scorching. (26) What do you think Hell-fire is? (27) It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] (28) Darkening and changing the colour of man! (29) Over it are nineteen [powers]. (30) We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals. (31)
