The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, (1) Arise and deliver thy warning! (2) And thine Lord magnify! (3) And your clothing purify (4) And banish all trepidation. (5) And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). (6) but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. (7) And when the trumpet is blown, (8) that very Day shall be a day of anguish, (9) For the unbelievers, anything but easy. (10) LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, (11) And then granted him resources in abundance. (12) And sons dwelling in his presence, (13) To whom I made (life) smooth and comfortable! (14) Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- (15) By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! (16) I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! (17) He planned and plotted. (18) and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: (19) What an evil plan he has made! (20) Then he looked around, (21) then frowned and scowled; (22) Then turned he away in pride (23) and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. (24) It is nothing but the word of a mortal' (25) I will cast him into Hell-fire (26) And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? (27) It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; (28) and it burns the flesh. (29) Over it are nineteen keepers. (30) We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. (31)
