The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Cloaked one, (1) Arise, and warn, (2) Glorify your Lord, (3) And your clothing purify (4) stay away from sins (5) And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). (6) and be patient unto thy Lord. (7) Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); (8) That shall be - that Day - a day hard. (9) and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. (10) Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. (11) and designated for him ample wealth, (12) and children living in his presence, (13) And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. (14) yet he is eager that I increase him. (15) By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! (16) We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. (17) He planned and plotted. (18) May he be condemned! (19) Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; (20) Then looked he, (21) Then he frowned and he scowled; (22) Then he turned back and was arrogant (23) Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); (24) 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' (25) Him shall I soon roast in Hell. (26) And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? (27) It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; (28) and it burns the flesh. (29) over it are nineteen. (30) And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. (31)
