The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou enveloped in thy cloak, (1) stand up, deliver your warning, (2) Proclaim the glory of your Lord; (3) And your garments do purify, (4) and shun uncleanness, (5) Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! (6) but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. (7) Then, when the Trumpet is sounded (i.e. its second blowing); (8) That Day will be a difficult day (9) and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy. (10) Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- (11) And then bestowed upon him ample means, (12) and sons that stand in witness. (13) And made several preparations for him. (14) and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. (15) By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. (16) I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! (17) For lo! he did consider; then he planned - (18) death seize him, how he determined! (19) Again, death seize him, how he determined! (20) Then he looked around, (21) Then he frowned and scowled, (22) Then he turned back and was big with pride, (23) said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. (24) "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" (25) I will cast him into the fire of Hell. (26) What do you think Hell-fire is? (27) It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; (28) scorching the flesh; (29) Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). (30) We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. (31)
